About
Mairi Claire is a Dundee born Props Buyer and Set Decoration Assistant, with an MSc in Environmental Management.
She has worked in the Film and TV industries across the UK since 2011, and has been actively engaged with, and has helped to lead movements for, environmental justice in relation to the screen sector since then.
In 2019 / 2020, Mairi Claire lead the research of Creative Carbon Scotland’s report “Greening Scotland’s Screen Industry” for Screen Scotland, and in the summer of 2020, helped to start the unionisation of environmental issues in the screen sector through BECTU LPD by setting up a Sustainability Sub Committee within it.
Between December 2021 - December 2023, Mairi Claire set up a new role for the Scottish Screen Sector working as the ‘Screen Sustainability Manger’ for Scotland, and brought together existing regional and national Screen Agencies across the U.K, as well as supporting UK wide screen agencies to help get the UK wide work in sustainability for screen integrated across all nations and regions.
In her spare time, she is likely to be found in nature somewhere on an adventure, gardening, permaculture design, writing, reading, drawing, designing, decorating, photographing, filming, and / or doing sustainable building work.
